The president sailed back into office last year on a pledge to increase affordability and fatten paychecks across the country. A meager 16 percent of voters now say the economy is doing well, with three quarters saying that conditions are only getting worse—the highest share since May 2023—according to the result of a new Gallup poll released Friday. The survey also shows the highest numbers of Americans assuming a dim view of their future economic prospects than at almost any other point since January 2022, when inflation rocketed to 9 percent in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
