MANILA, Philippines — Former President Rodrigo Duterte will not appear in court for the first hearing of his case at the trial stage in the International Criminal Court (ICC). The Trial Chamber (TC) III on Friday granted Duterte’s request to waive his right to appear before the court during the first status conference on May 27, where details in preparation for the trial proper will be threshed out.
