"The magical town of Tequila is getting ready to welcome international visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be held in the state of Jalisco, one of three host regions for the tournament in Mexico. Footage filmed on Friday shows local and foreign visitors gathering in Tequila’s main square, where hotel owners and tourism service providers have intensified language and hospitality training. "We are receiving training on different topics provided by the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat. Also, if you look at the entrance, we already have ramps, we have an elevator, and we have adapted rooms for people with disabilities," said hotel manager Maria de Jesus Landeros. She also stated that the town of Tequila will benefit from the economic boost generated during the tournament. "For us, the World Cup is a great opportunity that we should not miss because we have very good expectations,” the woman added. One of the main destinations for visitors is expected to be the distilleries, where different varieties of tequila are produced and processed from agave. To prepare, tour guides have received training to ensure quality service. "As a distillery, we are being trained to better receive visitors and understand the needs of tourists. We are preparing with English and Korean because we know we will have people from all over the world. More than anything, that, and also inclusion topics," Ana Cristina Castaneda explained. In the restaurant industry, chefs are creating special dishes inspired by the World Cup to provide tourists with a unique dining experience while they enjoy the excitement of the tournament. "Tequila is the most Mexican town; it is very Mexican. You can see it in the streets; you can see it in the restaurants. From the moment you enter Tequila, you can feel the Mexican spirit and the culture we have," said restaurant manager Paola Castaneda. Tequila is one of Jalisco's main tourist attractions and is located just over 60 kilometres from Guadalajara. Authorities expect part of the 3 million visitors projected to arrive in the state during the World Cup to travel there, in addition to visitors attending matches in Mexico City and Monterrey, the tournament's other two host cities."
