UAE weather: Dust storms return as winds hit 40km/h across the country

Dubai: Dusty conditions are set to return across the UAE today, as strengthening winds stir up sand and dust, reducing visibility in some areas and signalling the start of a warm, windy week ahead. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the weather will be fair in general today, but light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds are expected to increase in speed, reaching up to 40km/h. These conditions mean strong gusts of blowing dust, especially in open or exposed areas. The NCM advises residents and tourists to drive cautiously, limit exposure to dust, and keep windows and doors shut, to prevent dust particles from entering indoors. Temperatures in the low 40s Temperatures remain high today, and are forecast to reach between 42°C and 47°C in inland regions of the country, while coastal areas can expect highs of 36°C to 42°C. Dubai’s highest temperature today will be 39°C, Abu Dhabi will be 40°C and Sharjah 41°C, while Al Ain, Liwa and Fujairah could see temperatures climb to 44°C. Rough Arabian Sea While the Oman Sea is expected to remain relatively calm today, with average wave heights of two to three feet, the Arabian Sea will experience moderate to rough conditions, with waves reaching up to six feet offshore. It’s best to avoid beach activities if you’re based in the western coastal areas of the emirates, like Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today: Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C) Dubai 39°C 29°C Abu Dhabi 40°C 28°C Al Ain 44°C 28°C Sharjah 41°C 29°C Ajman 37°C 29°C Fujairah 44°C 32°C Ras Al Khaimah 43°C 25°C Umm Al Quwain 40°C 28°C Liwa 44°C 27°C
