Hotter Summer Ahead As Oman Faces Months Of Above-Average Heat

MUSCAT: Oman is likely to experience above-average temperatures throughout the summer months of June, July and August 2026, according to the latest seasonal climate bulletin issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The outlook, released by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, indicates that temperatures across the Sultanate are expected to remain higher than the climatological average during all three months. For June 2026, the forecast shows a high probability of temperatures exceeding normal levels across Oman. Similar conditions are expected in July, with above-average temperatures forecast to prevail over most parts of the country. The trend is projected to continue into August, when temperatures are also expected to remain above the long-term average, suggesting a prolonged period of hotter-than-usual weather across the Sultanate. In addition to the heat outlook, the CAA said rainfall during June is expected to remain below average in several parts of the country. The forecast predicts reduced rainfall activity, particularly in eastern and southeastern regions of Oman, while the rest of the Sultanate is likely to receive near-average to slightly below-average precipitation.
