MANILA, Philippines — The Senate Impeachment Court has scheduled the pre-trial conference in the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte on June 18, 2026, marking the next major step in the high-profile case. In a formal Notice of Pre-Trial Conference issued on June 9, Senator Win Gatchalian directed both the Vice President and the House of Representatives' prosecution panel to appear at 9 a.m. at the Sen. Claro M. Recto Room in the Senate building in Pasay City. The impeachment case, docketed as Case No. 004-2026, stems from charges transmitted by the House of Representatives and is now under the jurisdiction of the Senate sitting as an impeachment court. The June 18 conference will focus on procedural and evidentiary matters intended to streamline the trial process. Among the issues to be addressed are stipulation of facts and simplification of legal issues; marking and identification of documentary and physical evidence; admissions and waivers regarding evidence; identification and number of witnesses to be presented; scheduling of trial dates; determination of the sequence for presenting evidence and other matters that may facilitate a fair and expeditious trial.
