MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives on Tuesday started preparations for the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. by convening the first inter-agency coordination meeting for the event which organizers aimed to be simple. "There will be no red carpet, no long gowns," said House Secretary General Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil who presided over the meeting. She encouraged guests to wear clothes that are simple, dignified, and fit for the event which will be on July 27, 2026. Officials from the House, Senate, Office of the President, security agencies, local government units, and other relevant offices attended the meeting.
