"Donald Trump claimed negotiations with Iran were in the 'final throes' - and insisted he didn't blame Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu for striking Iran - as he spoke with reporters in Queens on Monday night. "What did you say to Prime Minister Netanyahu when you spoke to him?" asked a reporter, following claims of huge bust-ups between the two in recent weeks. "We had a very good conversation, and he was hit, and he hit back. And I can't blame him for that. But he was hit. He hit back. And now they've called it quits," he said. "And we're in the final throes of what will be a very, very good deal that will not allow in any way, shape, or form nuclear weapons, et cetera. And then the Strait will open up right away. It'll open up immediately upon signing, which could be in two or three days," he added. On Sunday and into Monday, Israel and Iran exchanged fresh strikes for the first time since a fragile ceasefire came into effect in April, before both sides agreed to halt attacks on Monday. Trump reportedly told Netanyahu not to 'retaliate', but those warnings appeared to have gone unheeded. Last week, he also reportedly called Netanyahu 'f***ing crazy' over his threat to bomb Beirut's southern suburbs, which saw Iran warn that they would withdraw from talks. "
