Marcos to Senate: Settle internal row first before calling special session

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants the Senate to settle its internal row first before calling for a special session of Congress, Malacañang said Tuesday. "Right now, it is still being finalized, but what the President wants is for the Senate to settle their issues first," Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said during a press conference. "They should fix the Senate... this is for the people, not for themselves. So, they should first fix their conflicts and their issues in the Senate," she added. Castro also said the Executive does not see any "constitutional crisis" amid the leadership dispute in the Senate. She insisted that the administration only recognized and supported Acting Senate President Gatchalian as the legitimate leader of the Senate.
