"Iranian cyclist Arezoo Eskandari arrived in Indonesia on Saturday after completing a seven-month solo journey across Asia, covering more than 8,000 kilometres as part of her 'Slow Life' campaign. Footage from Jakarta shows Eskandari cycling through city streets, walking alongside her loaded bicycle, as well as speaking with locals and media. She is later seen distributing campaign materials as she continues her journey through the Indonesian capital. "My message from the travel is a slow life. Don't think about the past, don't think about the future, and just live in the present and enjoy it," Eskandari explained. "Don't rush anything, just enjoy. On my journey, I travel very slowly, and you can see very deeply into cities, villages, traditional people, traditional culture, traditional food, and I know this because I am a psychologist," she added. Eskandari began her route in China before cycling through Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Carrying around 60 kilograms of equipment and cycling without sponsorship, she said she often camped or stayed with locals, relying on hospitality along the way. "I'm very worried about managing money and cannot go to hotels and restaurants every day. I need to cook for myself and use a tent for camping," Eskandari said. "My travel has a lot of challenges because travelling by bicycle is very difficult. And exactly in Southeast Asia, the weather is very hot and humid, and cycling is very difficult. And I'm a girl and alone; I don't trust everybody," she continued. After Indonesia, Eskandari plans to cycle on to Denpasar in Bali before continuing her cross-continental journey towards India. Cycling enthusiast also used her platform to challenge perceptions of Iran, saying she aims to highlight Iranian culture and hospitality through direct encounters with people she meets along the way."
