Czech Philharmonic Marks End of Season with Free Outdoor Concert

Every year, the Czech Philharmonic concludes its season outside the Rudolfinum with a traditional open-air free concert on Hradčanské Square. On June 24th, against the backdrop of Prague Castle, the orchestra will perform an engaging program ranging from film music to famous classical works, under the baton of conductor Alain Altinoglu. The evening’s soloist will be Marek Kozák, with Marek Eben serving as the narrator. The event will begin at 8:15 p.m. and is expected to run for approximately 70 minutes. The evening will open with Alfred Newman’s famous 20th Century Fox Fanfare, followed by selections from Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s score for The Sea Hawk, arranged by Patrick Russ. The concert will also feature the Largo from Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World, the opening movement of George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F, and Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Organizers will provide around 700 seats, primarily reserved for seniors, people with disabilities, and expectant mothers. Other visitors will be able to enjoy the performance while seated on the surrounding cobblestones and grassy areas or by standing throughout the concert. The performance will go ahead regardless of weather conditions. Attendees are encouraged to bring umbrellas...
