HH Rejects Public Gatherings Bill, Sends It Back to Parliament

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has declined to assent to the Public Gatherings Bill and returned it to Parliament for reconsideration, citing inconsistencies with judicial precedents. State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka confirmed that the President sent the bill back May 29, 2026, under Article 66(1)(b) of the Constitution.
