Outgoing mayor’s fundraising efforts raise over £15k for charities

Outgoing Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick recently welcomed representatives from ASD Teens, the British Deaf Association and the Macmillan Cancer Unit at Antrim Area Hospital to Antrim Castle Gardens, where she presented a cheque recognising the success of her fundraising efforts throughout her Mayoral term. The impressive £15,456.17 total was made possible through the support of residents, businesses, community organisations and volunteers from across the borough, who participated in and contributed to a range of fundraising events and initiatives over the past year.Speaking at the presentation, Cllr Kirkpatrick said: "I am delighted and extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed to this fantastic fundraising total. The money raised is a testament to the generosity, kindness and community spirit that exists across Antrim and Newtownabbey.“It has been a privilege to support these three remarkable charities during my year as Mayor. I have no doubt that these donations will make a meaningful difference, helping ASD Teens, British Deaf Association and the Macmillan Cancer Unit at Antrim Area Hospital continue their invaluable work supporting individuals and families in our community."This year's fundraising total will help each charity to continue delivering essential services and support to those who need it most For more information on the Mayor's charities, visit antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk/mayorscharities
