The Hexa Fever - Sao Paulo neighborhood dresses in green and yellow to support Brazil in the 2026 World Cup

"Dozens of residents from a traditional neighborhood in the city of Osasco, in the state of Sao Paulo, transformed their streets into a collective celebration by painting 38 Brazilian flags on the asphalt as a show of support for the national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The inhabitants claimed to have used more than 270 liters of paint to complete the designs that cover entire sections of the public road, turning the area into a neighborhood meeting point. "We used more than 270 liters of paint and on Sunday we got together with all the kids (...) to paint there, so we started at 6 in the morning and kept painting until around 4 in the afternoon," commented Diego, a local resident. Patricia, another resident of the neighborhood, explained that the activity has family roots that have been passed down through generations for more than four decades. "This story started 44 years ago with the former residents and continued (...) the street is closed, everyone participates, the former residents left the legacy, the children continued," added Patricia. The community initiative takes place every four years, with the participation of entire families as part of a popular custom widely spread in Brazil during World Cup years. Entire neighborhoods decorate streets, facades, and squares to follow the matches of the national team, known as the 'Canarinha,' in reference to its characteristic yellow color and its status as one of the most successful teams in international football, with five world titles. In light of this, Igor, a participant in the artistic display and local resident, expressed his hope that the festive atmosphere will positively influence the Brazilian team in their quest for the sixth world title. "I hope this energy can bring us the hexa (sixth championship) (...) This good energy can reach the players and who knows how to bring the sixth this year," said the neighbor. The Brazilian team, considered one of the most successful in global football, has won five World Cups (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002), which fuels popular expectation to achieve the sixth world championship."
