'Why didn't they warn our authorities 4 drones were out of control?' - Romania's Constanta recalls Ukrainian drone boat blast

"Residents and workers in Romania's Black Sea city of Constanta recalled scenes of panic and confusion on Friday after a Ukrainian marine drone exploded near the port. "I was in the kitchen cooking during the explosion. I ran outside on the terrace. Everybody panicked and ran away," said Iulia, a chef at a restaurant near the port. Iulia described smoke, shaking buildings and a hurried evacuation in the aftermath of the blast. "Here it was full of smoke. The restaurant walls shook and also the ceiling. The police arrived to shut down the gas and everybody had to leave the area. It was a very unpleasant experience and hopefully not again." Meanwhile, Florin noted that the Ukrainians had admitted to being the source of the drone at around 3pm. "But I wonder why they are not working with the Romanian Intelligence to inform us that 4 drones went out of control," he noted. Another local resident, Maria, said she first learned details of the incident from her son, who works in the port. "It was a very loud bang and after a while my son called me and said that one drone had auto-detonated close to us. Then I was scared," Maria recalled. Victor, a doorman at Constanta's landmark casino building overlooking the Black Sea, said the shockwave could be felt several kilometres from the port. "It was a very big aftershock. The whole casino shook from the basement to the roof," he said. "People were confused and didn't know what happened. We found out only a few minutes later when the media reported it. Then there was chaos with the area evacuation." Last Friday, another drone incident was reported in Romania, after a UAV hit an apartment block. Western officials blamed Russia, while Romania said it was 'not an attack' and Dan later said the drone had likely been knocked off course by Ukrainian air defences."
