Hooghly police have apprehended TMC leader Ramesh Patra following a complaint of fraud and intimidation. Patra allegedly promised government benefits to a local businessman, collecting approximately Rs 29 lakh in cash and online transfers. When the promised benefits failed to materialize, the accused reportedly issued death threats. An investigation is ongoing to determine potential involvement of other influential figures.
