BSNL ordered to pay over Rs 55 lakh to co-operative bank after duplicate SIM gave fraudsters access to OTPs in Rs 87 lakh fraud

Karnataka high court has ordered BSNL to pay more than Rs 55 lakh in compensation and damages to a co-operative bank that lost over Rs 87 lakh in a SIM swap fraud. The court held that the unauthorised issuance of a duplicate SIM card enabled fraudsters to receive OTPs and carry out fraudulent transactions, making BSNL liable for the resulting losses.
