Science ministry, Kakao meet to prevent service disruption ahead of strike

Officials from the science ministry and Kakao Corp. held a meeting Monday to ensure stable operations of major services provided by the messenger app operator. The meeting was held in Sejong, central Korea, ahead of a planned four-hour strike by Kakao's labor union later this week, following the breakdown in wage talks mediated by the government. Officials discussed response measures to the possible disruption of Kakao's services close to people's daily lives, including KakaoTalk and KakaoMap, the science ministry said. Kakao and the science ministry also agreed to maintain a cooperative framework to ensure prompt response and information sharing in the event of a service disruption, the ministry added.
