M25 chaos: Drivers facing two-hour delays and 10 miles of traffic after huge diesel spill

Drivers are facing long delays of two hours on the M25 this morning, creating travel chaos for commuters at the start of the week. Lanes one, two and three (of four) on the M25 are closed anticlockwise between J27 and J26 to the east of London. This is due to a broken down recovery truck which has lost its diesel tank and spilt its contents over the carriageway. National Highways has confirmed that specialist contractors are on the scene to complete emergency resurfacing. National Highways states that there are severe delays of up to two hours through the area, alongside 10 miles of congestion. It continued, saying: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey." Motorists are facing further delays on the M25 between J9 (Leatherhead) and J10 (Guildford) after a lorry hit a bridge. Two lanes of four are currently closed after the HG struck the nearside barrier, with recovery working to clear the scene.
