KARACHI: A one-day scientific and research seminar on “Quranic Aesthetics” and a special exhibition of sacred relics were held at the Gohar Green City Campus of Imam Ahmed Raza University of Emerging Sciences and Technologies (Proposed), Malir, Karachi, under the auspices of The Hikmah Nexus: Hazrat Khawaja Mohkam Ud-Din Serani Centre for Socio-Scientific and Sufic Research, Saylani Welfare International Trust. The seminar highlighted the aesthetic, intellectual, scientific and spiritual dimensions of the Holy Quran, while the exhibition of sacred Tabarrukat associated with the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Khana-e-Kaaba and Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani remained a major centre of attention for the participants. The chief guest of the event was Maulana Bashir Ahmed Farooqui, Chairman, Saylani Welfare International Trust, and Chancellor, Imam Ahmed Raza University of Emerging Sciences and Technologies (Proposed). Prof. Syed Asghar Ali, former Chairman, Department of Chemistry, former Member Senate and Syndicate, and former Advisor to the Vice Chancellor, Federal Urdu University, attended as guest of honour. Addressing the seminar, Maulana Bashir Ahmed Farooqui formally announced the establishment of The Hikmah Nexus: Hazrat Khawaja Mohkam Ud-Din Serani Centre for Socio-Scientific and Sufic Research. He said the centre would work on the relationship between the Holy Quran, Seerat-un-Nabi , modern scientific research, social issues and spiritual sciences. He said that despite major progress in science, technology and communication, humanity was still in search of truth, purpose and spiritual peace. He added that the establishment of a research centre in the light of the Quran and Sunnah was an important need of the time. Maulana Bashir Ahmed Farooqui said the centre would have two major objectives: research on the link between the Holy Quran, modern scientific development, environmental changes and contemporary social challenges; and the promotion of authentic scholarly work on Tasawwuf, self-purification, and the spiritual and moral teachings of Islam.
