DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — An orchid hybrid has been named after the late House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., adding a floral tribute to the legacy of one of the country’s most prominent political figures. The hybrid, Dendrobium Jose de Venecia Jr., is a cross between Dendrobium discolor and Dendrobium Neo’s Gift. It was officially registered on Feb. 28, 2026, with the Royal Horticultural Society, the world authority on orchid hybrid registration, by publishing magnate Emilio Yap III.
