Marcos urges Filipinos to join Earth Hour, conserve energy

MANILA, Philippines- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday called on Filipinos to take part in Earth Hour this year, stressing the need for energy preservation and limiting fuel consumption amid the ongoing global energy crisis. This year’s World Wide Fund for Nature’s Earth Hour is scheduled from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time. In a video message, the President said this year’s observance, themed “Switch on Habits for Earth,” is especially relevant as the country faces rising fuel costs and global uncertainties. "This year's event provides a timely and relevant opportunity for us to reflect, not only on the issue of climate change and environmental preservation, but also on the need to conserve energy and to limit fuel consumption amid the current global crisis," Marcos said. "The simple act of turning off our lights for one hour goes a long way. So, I invite every Filipino to participate in this cause and be inspired by the theme, Switch on Habits for Earth. May the true meaning of Earth Hour be part of our lives starting tonight," he added.
