Multan Sultans registered a convincing five-wicket victory over Islamabad United in the fourth match of Pakistan Super League 2026 at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday. Chasing a target of 172, the Sultans comfortably reached 175/5 in 18.4 overs, thanks to a match-winning half-century by Josh Philippe. The Sultans had an early setback as Sahibzada Farhan departed cheaply, but Philippe steadied the innings with a 45-run stand alongside Steve Smith, who scored 31 on his PSL debut. Captain Shadab Khan struck twice in quick succession to reduce the Sultans to 70/3. However, Philippe then added a crucial 61-run partnership with skipper Ashton Turner to put the chase back on track. Philippe top-scored with 55 off 35 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes, while Turner remained unbeaten on 43. Arafat Minhas also provided late impetus with a quickfire 25. For United, Shadab and Salman Irshad claimed two wickets each. Earlier, Islamabad United posted 171/8 in their allotted 20 overs after being put into bat. The innings was anchored by Mark Chapman, who scored 40 off 23 balls, while Devon Conway contributed 26. Late cameos from Faheem Ashraf (26) helped push the total past 170. For the Sultans, Momin Qamar was the standout performer with the ball, taking 3/24, while Mohammad Wasim Jr picked up two wickets. The win gives Multan Sultans a strong start to their PSL 11 campaign.
