Egyptian FM arrives in Islamabad for quadrilateral talks amid regional tensions

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty arrived in Islamabad on Saturday on an official visit at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as Pakistan steps up diplomatic efforts to address escalating regional tensions, the Foreign Office (FO) said. During the visit, Abdelatty will hold consultations with the Pakistani leadership on evolving regional developments and will also call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to the FO. The Egyptian minister will also participate in a two-day quadrilateral meeting on regional issues, scheduled to be held in Islamabad on March 29 and 30, the FO said in a previous statement. The meeting is expected to focus on the rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape, particularly in the Middle East. Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are also expected to arrive on Sunday to attend the meeting, further elevating the level of diplomatic engagement. The FO said the visit reflects the close and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Egypt, as well as their continued coordination on regional and international issues. The development comes amid Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic outreach aimed at de-escalating the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran, which is nearing the one-month mark. Islamabad has been positioning itself as a potential facilitator for dialogue, maintaining contacts with multiple stakeholders amid rising tensions.
