Hundreds bid last farewell to two brothers reportedly killed by Israeli army fire east of Gaza City

"Hundreds mourned two brothers, Fahmi and Saed Omar Qadoum, killed reportedly by Israeli army fire east of Gaza City. Saturday's footage shows residents gathering around the two bodies before the funeral, weeping and bidding last farewell. They were also seen performing funeral prayers as well as carrying the bodies on their shoulders during the procession. "They were displaced and were staying inside the industrial zone, in a workshop opposite Al-Shawa station," Wael Al-Rifi, relative of the victims, said. "They were about 300 or 400 meters away from the yellow line. Moreover, there were other displaced people around them." According to reports, the two brothers were killed with more residents injured, as Israeli military 'opened fire on homes in the Al-Shamaa area in the old town'. The Israeli army did not comment on the allegations at the time of publication. The Israel-Hamas war erupted on October 7, 2023, following Hamas attacks that killed 1,139 people (mostly Israeli civilians) and captured over 200 hostages. Israel's subsequent military campaign in Gaza has killed 72,253 people and injured 171,912 at the time of publication. In January, US Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff announced the start of the second phase of the 20-point 'Trump Plan' aimed at ending the Gaza conflict. This phase includes moving from ceasefire to disarmament, establishing a technocratic administration, and beginning reconstruction efforts."
