"Iran received another shipment of humanitarian aid from Russia on Saturday, as the US-Israeli military campaign against the country continued. Footage shows warehouses of the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Tehran receiving the supplies, with staff seen unloading and moving the cargo ahead of distribution. "Thanks to the esteemed government of Russia and the follow-ups made by Mr. Dr. Jalali, our respected ambassador, today 313 tonnes of medicine were delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent Society through the country of Russia," the society’s head, Pirhossein Kolivand, said. "On my behalf, both the Red Crescent Society and the people, I thank you for this gift and the generosity that the country of Russia and its government have shown." Kolivand added that aid was also arriving from other countries. A consignment from Iraq arrived on Friday, he noted, with a larger shipment delivered at the Mehran border crossing that was expected to reach Tehran by morning. He also mentioned that a 2,600-tonne cargo from Tajikistan had arrived by rail and was in the process of being transferred. On Friday, Dmitry Melnik, director of the international affairs department at Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry, confirmed that the second phase of emergency aid deliveries to Iran had been completed. Earlier this month, Moscow sent 13 tonnes of medicine to Iran. Tensions have escalated across the Middle East since the United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28, amid diplomatic talks aimed at 'curbing Iran's nuclear and missile programmes'. Tehran responded with retaliatory strikes on Israeli and US assets in the region, accompanied by reports of explosions in several Gulf countries. Iran later confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with his son Mojtaba Khamenei named as his successor. The conflict spilt over into Lebanon as Hezbollah intervened 'in revenge' for the killing of the Iranian Supreme Leader. Shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, were disrupted following its closure. The latest escalation has driven oil prices above $100 per barrel, rattling global energy markets and sparking protests in several countries. "
