"Turkey's intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin warned on Saturday that the US-Israeli war on Iran could destabilise the wider area and fuel a conflict lasting decades. Speaking at the International Strategic Communication Summit 2026 in Istanbul, Kalin said the war risked igniting 'a great fire of discord' among Turks, Kurds, Arabs and Persians, paving the way for prolonged bloodshed. "As Turkey, I want to emphasise that we will remain on full alert and will continue to struggle against this until the end. We have never been, and will never be, a party that fuels the fire of discord. If necessary, we will take the fire into our own hands and extinguish it in our own chest, but we will never throw it into the fire of discord," he said. "We act knowing who is a friend and who is an enemy. As Turkey, I want to state once again that we will not deviate from this path," Kalin added. The US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region, with the conflict now into its fourth week. Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon have also traded cross-border strikes."
