"IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin on Saturday vowed to continue military action in Iran, adding that Israel is working to completely destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities. The spokesperson added the military is also intensifying operations in Lebanon against Hezbollah. “A uranium enrichment facility, the only one of its kind in Iran, essentially the first link in the value chain of nuclear weapon production. Additionally, we attacked the heavy water plant in Arak, where the regime planned to produce materials for nuclear weapon development,” Defrin said. “We are continuously denying more and more capabilities that threaten Israel's security," he said, adding, “We will continue to do this until the threats are removed against Israeli citizens." "We will not turn a blind eye to Iran, that is why we are taking action," he stressed. Defrin said that Israeli forces were expanding ground operations in southern Lebanon, targeting rocket-launching infrastructure and Hezbollah operatives. According to Defrin, more than 850 Hezbollah fighters have been killed so far, including journalist Ali Hassan Shoaib, who he claimed was an intelligence operative in the Radwan force. He admitted that Israeli action in Lebanon has taken casualties. "During the battles in southern Lebanon, fighters have fallen, and there are also wounded in battles. Their fighting and bravery will not be in vain," he noted. He also boosted close military coordination with Washington. “We are acting according to a structured plan in full coordination with the American partner. An unprecedented and exceptional level of cooperation. There is no gap between us,” he said. "I speak on behalf of the Israel Defence Forces. I cannot comment on actions supposedly taken by the American military. We see that the American military continues to amass forces," he noted. Tensions have escalated across the Middle East since the United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28, amid diplomatic talks aimed at 'curbing Iran's nuclear and missile programmes'. Tehran responded with retaliatory strikes on Israeli and US assets in the region, accompanied by reports of explosions in several Gulf countries. Iran later confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with his son Mojtaba Khamenei named as his successor. The conflict spilt over into Lebanon as Hezbollah intervened 'in revenge' for the killing of the Iranian Supreme Leader. Shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, were disrupted following its closure."
