Use your head! - Cuba's 'El Dominador' smashes own record with incredible weighted ankle football marathon

"Cuban record holder Erick Hernandez broke his own endurance record on Saturday, keeping a football in the air using only his head while seated, with 1.5 kilograms of weight attached to each ankle, for one hour, 24 minutes and 33 seconds. The attempt took place at the Melia Cohiba, where footage shows Hernandez maintaining control of the ball as judges monitored the challenge. Hernandez had previously set the same record in mid-2025, lasting one hour, 20 minutes and 36 seconds under identical conditions. “The main difficulty of this record is the position in which you head the ball. When you head the ball, the impulse always comes from the legs when you are standing. When you are seated, it is very difficult. You have to constantly bend and extend the torso and keep the ball vertical,” he explained. Ivette Santiago Rodriguez, an international assistant referee who acted as a judge, said the team followed strict criteria to ensure the attempt could be certified by Guinness World Records. “On this occasion, we tried to ensure that all the requirements Guinness demands were met so the record can be certified, such as the live recording of the attempt, the presence of us here at all times and witnesses who can attest that it truly happened,” she said. Now nearing 60, Hernandez, known as 'El Dominador', holds more than 30 world records, several of them recognised by Guinness. His first came in 2005, when he completed 319 headers in one minute, launching a career built on extreme ball control challenges."
