A shirtless man accused of burgling a Glen Eden petrol station was caught by a police dog after trying to evade police. Police were notified after an alarm and fog cannon were activated at the West Coast Rd service station about 2.30am. A camera operator tracked a male suspect eating food near the forecourt and acting erratically. The 35-year-old was caught by a police dog after he was pepper sprayed and tried to escape. He will appear in Waitākere District Court today on burglary and resisting police charges. Waitematā West area prevention manager Acting Inspector Nick Salter said police “will continue to hold such brazen offending to account”.
