MANILA, Philippines — As oil prices continue to rise, Senator Bam Aquino has filed a bill seeking to classify gasoline, diesel, and other petroleum products as basic necessities, placing them under government price controls. In filing Senate Bill No. 2011, Aquino explained that the proposed measure intends to address a gap in Republic Act No. 7581, or the Price Act, by including gasoline and diesel, as well as other petroleum products, among the basic necessities that may be subjected to a price ceiling during periods of national emergency.
