"Burning barricades and clashes with police erupted across Santiago on Sunday night, during the commemoration of the 'Day of the Young Combatant'. Barricades and confrontations lead to blocked streets in the Chilean capital, causing major traffic disruptions. Authorities used water cannons and police interventions to gradually restore order. A young woman was reportedly seriously injured by gunfire, after being shot in the abdomen near the Hospital El Pino Metro station during confrontations between protesters and police. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The Day of the Young Combatant commemorates the Brothers Rafael and Eduardo Vergara Toledo who were killed by security forces on March 29, 1985."
