Prague is preparing for one of its busiest holiday periods of the year, with around 250,000 visitors expected to arrive during the Easter holidays, according to an estimate by city tourism agency Prague City Tourism. The figure is roughly the same as last year, but the city is seeing stronger demand from several international markets. Interest in trips to Prague has risen most sharply among travelers from South Korea and China. Among European visitors, demand has grown most in Italy and Spain, where Easter remains an important religious holiday. Prague City Tourism spokeswoman Klára Janderová said the estimates are based partly on data provided through the agency’s cooperation with Mastercard. The company is now able to use some travel and booking data to better track trends in visitor demand. According to Janderová, the latest figures show that Prague is becoming more attractive to long-haul travelers from Asia, while southern European tourists continue to choose the Czech capital for Easter breaks linked to church traditions and seasonal events. Hotels across the city are also expected to be busy. Data from STR, a company that monitors the hotel market, shows that hotel occupancy during the Easter period is currently around 80 percent....
