Toronto Blue Jays pitcher called out by fans and even a Canadian senator chimed in

Brendon Little's 2026 season hasn't gotten off to the start he had hoped. The Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher took a ton of heat in last year's postseason. It all started in Game 5 of the ALCS, where he entered the outing with a 2-1 lead over the Seattle Mariners in the eighth inning. Chaos ensued shortly thereafter, leading to the Blue Jays falling 6-2. Though the Jays rallied back to win the series, confidence in Little during high-leverage situations was low, and decreased even further after he gave up the game-winning home run in the bottom of the 18th in a marathon Game 3 of the World Series versus the LA Dodgers. Despite the struggles, Little was able to retain a spot in the Blue Jays bullpen for the 2026 season. It's still early, but the results haven't been promising, and fans have taken notice. Little entered Saturday's game versus the Athletics in the seventh inning with one man on and the score tied at two apiece. He proceeded to allow two more runners to get on base before giving up a grand slam to Shea Langeliers. This was an insane pitch for Langeliers to knock out of the park for the Grand Slam. There's also a reason Brendon Little was left in the pen until the 18th inning of a World Series game. Awful start to his season. Might be time for a change. #BlueJays50 pic.twitter.com/lLqJhd0O8D — Jacob Pacheco (@JacobPacheco6) March 28, 2026 Whether fair or not, many Jays fans, including Canadian senator Denise Batters, have seen enough. Batters chimed in on X after Little's latest outing to ask why he is still on the team. I’m sorry, but why is Brendon Little still on this ball team? #Jays — Sen. Denise Batters (@denisebatters) March 28, 2026 Thankfully for Little's sake, the Blue Jays were able to rally and defeat the Athletics by an 8-7 final. They went on to win Sunday's outing by a 5-2 final to complete the opening weekend sweep and start their season out with a 3-0 record.
