CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu City aims to boost its social amelioration fund by hiking the per-patron tax on nightlife spots from P10 to P15 and expanding coverage to more entertainment venues. The measure, outlined in a proposal by Councilor Dave Tumulak and now before the committee on laws and styling, targets revenue for child nutrition, poverty alleviation, and anti-dropout programs amid persistent malnutrition and urban vulnerabilities.  This is important because 2025 data shows 2.9 percent of Cebu children under five are underweight, 6.26 percent stunted, and 1.08 percent wasted.
