GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija — Three people died after reportedly attempting to swim in an irrigation canal in Barangay Naglabrahan on Monday afternoon. The victims were identified as cousins Ruben Benavidez, 31, and Elmer Benavidez, 47, both residents of the village, and Jomar Gobrin, 29, a native of Matnog, Sorsogon City. The incident was reported around 2 p.m., prompting a coordinated water search-and-rescue operation by village responders, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices of Guimba and the Science City of Muñoz.
