PhilHealth to collect premiums despite calls to pause amid crisis

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Tuesday acknowledged calls to temporarily suspend premium payments but affirmed that contributions will continue to fund member benefits. In an advisory on Tuesday, PhilHealth said it recognizes the pleas of many Filipinos to temporarily suspend premium payments as relief amid rising fuel costs, which affect many livelihoods. PhilHealth also noted President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency to address issues arising from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
