MANILA, Philippines — Domestic shipping companies and operators may now impose a price increase of up to 30 percent for passenger fare and cargo freight rates amid rising fuel costs, according to an advisory by the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina). In an advisory issued on Monday, the maritime agency said it is allowing a maximum increase of 30 percent from the base fare or published rate indicated in the certificate of public convenience of domestic shipping companies or operators.
