"War Secretary Pete Hegseth revealed 'there are a lot of people on our target list in Iran' as he spoke at the latest Pentagon presser on Tuesday. "The US government and I see assess for many years that Iran is protecting al-Qaeda senior leaders, including the current Amir Saif al-Adel. Does the US assess that he’s still in Iran? Has he fled to Afghanistan? Is he on a target list?" he was asked. "So I won’t speak to a particular target. I’ll just say that al Qaeda remains our enemy, obviously, and there are a lot of people on our target list in Iran, and if they were to be harbouring al-Qaeda, they would certainly fit that list," Hegseth admitted. The US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region, with the conflict now into its fifth week. Iran has reported over 1,900 deaths since the start of the war. The US has confirmed at least 13 military service personnel killed with around two dozen fatalities admitted by the Israeli side. "
