MANILA, Philippines — Mayon Volcano’s effusive eruption is on its 84th consecutive day, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Tuesday. An effusive eruption is defined by Phivolcs as a type of eruption “dominated by the outpouring, fountaining or ejection of fluid lava.” Phivolcs made the pronouncement in an advisory after recording another lava fountaining event at the crater of Mayon at exactly 8:29 p.m. “The event [was] registered as harmonic tremor with distinct overtones in the frequency spectra,” Phivolcs said. “Effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano continues for the 84th consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density […]...
