ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, president of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), held a detailed discussion on Tuesday regarding the evolving situation in Middle East and the importance of enhancing Parliament’s role in shaping the country’s foreign policy. Sadiq met Maulana Rehman at his residence, during which both leaders discussed the current regional situation and matters of mutual interest. Both leaders emphasized the need to further strengthen the legislative process and enhance the effective role of Parliament. They also discussed about promoting national unity, democratic stability, and political harmony. Sadiq highlighted that consultation and mutual cooperation among political leadership are essential to address the challenges faced by the country. He further stated that strengthening coordination among political parties is in the national interest. The Speaker stressed the importance of adopting a unified strategy in the national interest and underscored the need for all parliamentary parties to play an active role in addressing national issues and fostering unity. He also noted that Pakistan is playing an active role in the evolving situation in the Middle East. Maulana Rehman appreciated the role of NA Speaker as custodian of the House and acknowledged the importance of Parliament in the current regional situation. He remarked that Parliament’s role is of key significance in addressing ongoing challenges. Maulana Rehman also appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Israel-Iran conflict and emphasized that, in light of the changing regional dynamics, it is essential to take Parliament into confidence for making important decisions.
