Stellantis recalls 700,000 cars globally due to fire risk

13,345 examples of the Peugeot 208 are affected by the recall, according to an official notice Contact between 1.2-litre mild-hybrid's GPF pipe and starter-generator belt can cause fire Stellantis has recalled 700,000 cars built between mid-2023 and this year due to a risk of fire. The recall concerns the 1.2-litre mild-hybrid powertrain used in a wide range of cars from Alfa Romeo, Citroën, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Opel-Vauxhall and Peugeot. Recall notices published to Gov.uk point to an issue with contact between the engine’s gasoline particular filter pipe and the protection cap for the hybrid system’s starter-generator belt. Contact between the two can cause water to enter the engine, resulting in fire. A significant number of cars in the UK are expected to be affected by the recall, which was first reported by Reuters , including 13,345 examples of the Peugeot 208 . Autocar has contacted Stellantis UK for comment. This story will be updated with more information
