"Iranians gathered in Tehran on Wednesday for the unfurling of the biggest flag ever made, to mark Islamic Republic Day. Footage shows the ceremony which also honoured the victims of the Minab school attack. Iran’s government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said the rally showed unity among the Iranian people, government, and leadership. Ali Mahboubi, a manufacturer of the special flags, added: “Today we are here on the hills of Abbas Abad, in front of the largest flag... in the Middle East, standing 147 metres tall, and the largest flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran, measuring 45 metres by 24 metres. Islamic Republic Day marks the anniversary of the referendum in 1979 which established the Islamic Republic, following the overthrow of the Shah monarchy. Around 170 people were reported killed including children in the airstrike on the Minab girls' school at the start of the ongoing war with the US and Israel. The US claims the official investigating is still ongoing, although preliminary reports in the US press suggested the Americans were to blame, citing outdated targeting data for an intended strike on a nearby base. Amnesty International called for those behind what it described as a 'deadly and unlawful' airstrike to be held accountable. The US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region, with the conflict now into its fifth week. Iran has reported over 1,900 deaths since the start of the war. The US has confirmed at least 13 military service personnel killed with around two dozen fatalities admitted by the Israeli side. "
