Every fifth person living in Uusimaa region is of foreign background, according to Statistics Finland. The official total population of Finland was 5,652,881 at the end of 2025. In the course of 2025, Finlands population grew by 16,910 persons. Population growth was almost one-half lower than in the year before. In 2023 and 2024, Finland's population grew strongly especially because of influx of Ukrainian refugees. The number of second-generation persons with foreign background exceeded 100,000. During 2025, the population increased in 77 municipalities and decreased in 227. The number of persons with no religious affiliation exceeded two million.
