MANILA, Philippines — Pope Leo XIV has congratulated Cardinal Jose Advincula on the latter’s 50th anniversary of priestly ordination and 25th anniversary of episcopal consecration, with the pope praying that he continues to fulfill his ministry “in fidelity and obedience.” The pope’s letter to the cardinal dated March 2, 2026 was shared by the Manila Cathedral on Maundy Thursday. Advincula is the current and 33rd archbishop of Manila and served as member of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ [CBCP] Commissions for the Doctrine of Faith and Indigenous Peoples.
