DepEd to hold orientation sessions on three-term school calendar shift

MANILA, Philippines —The Department of Education (DepEd) will conduct a series of orientation sessions to school leaders, teachers, and education stakeholders on the implementation of the three-term school calendar beginning school year 2026-2027. In a statement on Wednesday night, DepEd said that the shift formed part of its broader effort to improve the quality of basic education, strnegthen institutional planning, and ensure that schools are better supported in delivering the K to 12 curriculum, The briefings, according to DepEd, will cover policies and operational adjustments related to the shift, including Assessment and Grading, Lesson Planning, Education in Emergencies (EiE), Flexible Learning Programs (FLP), and Strengthened Senior High School (SSHS) Work Immersion. The orientation will begin later this month after the issuance of relevant policies starting with the regional and division officials and school heads, while orientation sessions for master teachers and classroom teachers will be conducted in May. The Department of Economy, Planning and Development's (DepDev) has approved the implementation of the three-term school calendar, with the aim of maximizing the length of learning time often disrupted by bad weather as well as celebrations and observances.
