TTC closures this weekend will likely cause headaches in the downtown core, and here's everything you need to know to navigate the major subway outage scheduled for the Easter long weekend. The transit agency has announced a full-weekend closure on a six-station stretch of Line 1 Yonge-University, spanning from St George to St Andrew stations, from 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 3 to Sunday, April 5. Disruption planned on Line 1 this weekend is just the latest in a series of service adjustments and closures that the TTC attributes to "planned station work" as the transit agency rushes through its work backlog ahead of the FIFA World Cup games in Toronto starting in June. The same portion of track has been subject to multiple closures so far in 2026. As with previous outages along this stretch, the TTC has opted not to run shuttle buses through this congested area of the downtown core and is instead advising commuters to use alternate routes . During the closure, commuters will not be able to access Museum, Queen's Park, St Patrick and Osgoode stations, though St George and St Andrew stations will remain open for passengers to purchase fares and connect with surface routes. Regular subway service is expected to resume in time for the start of the morning rush on Monday, April 6.
