New COVID Variant “Cicada” (BA.3.2) may be affecting children the most, experts say

The COVID-19 subvariant BA.3.2, nicknamed “Cicada,” spread internationally, reaching 23 countries and appearing in wastewater across 25 U.S. states. While not a dominant strain in the United States, it has contributed to a notable share of infections in parts of Europe. Early studies indicate it may infect children more efficiently.
