MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of devotees of the Black Nazarene took part in the Good Friday procession, expressing their deep veneration for the image. According to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Department, the procession started at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday. As of posting time, the Andas—the carriage carrying the image—is at Concepcion Aguila, which is the halfway point of the 3.8-kilometer-long procession. The Manila DRRM’s medical teams are also on standby to assist devotees who may require immediate attention.
