6.3 magnitude earthquake jolts Islamabad parts of Pakistan

A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan late Friday night, with tremors felt across several parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Peshawar and areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake was recorded at 9:13 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time. The depth of the quake was 190 kilometers, while its epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan. Tremors were reported in Islamabad, Chitral, Peshawar, Swat, Shangla and surrounding areas, causing panic among residents who rushed out of homes and buildings. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, authorities said, adding that monitoring was underway.
